When Sati, the wife of Shiva and the first incarnation of Parvati, sacrificed herself at a yagna being performed by her father the King Daksha; a very distraught Shiva started dancing with her body. The world was terrorized from this Tandava Nritya and to stop the devastating penance, Vishnu used his Sudarshan chakra (the whirling knife on his finger tip) and completely cut up Sati's body in several pieces. Wherever her body parts fell, a temple was erected to commemorate different manifestations of Shiva and Parvati and became a Hindu pilgrimage. They are called Pitha or Sakti Pithas. These temples are scattered from present day Pakistan to India to Sri Lanka to Bangladesh. Sati is also called Devi or Shakti (Strength). Sati was reborn later as the daughter of the King of Mountains the Himalayas and hence she was called Parvati or the daughter of Parvat (Mountain). Pushkar-The Ultimate Pilgrimage

- Know More About India -

Pushkar-The Ultimate Pilgrimage

Pushkar - The Ultimate Pilgrimage

Pushkar is known as teerthraj or king of all pilgrimages. It is situated in Ajmer district of Rajasthan. Pushkar has the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma.

According to Padma Purana, Lord Brahma, the creator amongst the Hindu trinity, decided to make an offering of a fire sacrifice (Yagya) after completing the creation of the universe.

In order to make this sacrificial offering, Lord Brahma wanted to identify a suitable place. He tossed a lotus bloom and the flower landed where we now find the Pushkar Lake. So, Pushkar was chosen for performing this sacred ritual.

Though most people know of only one Pushkar, there are in fact three Pushkars. All of them are in Ajmer. It is believed that while the lotus bloom itself landed in the Pushkar Lake, the two leaves that came with the stem of the lotus fell at two other lakes. One of them is called Bhuda Pushkar and the other one is called Madhya Pushkar. Villagers who live around Bhuda Pushkar and Madhya Pushkar believe that those are the real Pushkars.

When all the preparations for his great yagya were complete, Brahma's consort Savitri failed to join him. In order to complete the ritual, he married a local gujjar girl called Gayatri and proceeded with the yagya. When Savitri arrived, she was furious to see Gayatri beside Lord Brahma.

Since Lord Brahma did not wait for Savitri for this great sacrificial offering, she felt bad and she told Lord Brahma that Pushkar is the only place where he would be worshipped in this world. That explains why we have only one Brahma temple whereas there are thousands and thousands of temples of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.

It is believed that Lord Brahma pooled water from Badrinath, Jagnnath, Rameshwaram and Dwarka to create Pushkar Lake. That is why Pushkar lake is called the teerthraj.

Since Pushkar is the place where the first sacrificial offering was made by Lord Brahma and since the water in Pushkar Lake represents combination water from four important pilgrimages for the Hindus, it is considered to be as holy as the water from river ganges. It follows, therefore, that if you take a holy dip at teerthraj Pushkar Lake, you automatically become eligible for gathering the boons for visiting the other four pilgrimages.

Mast movie scenes...........

Guddu: Manisha Koirala and Shah Rukh Khan are seen hanging on a parachuteduring a song. But when the song ends, they land on a glider. What a switch above sea level!

Tere Mere Sapne: Priya Gill is doing her BA. But at the bus stop, she iscarrying an electrical technology thesis by B L Theraja. What anelectrifying interest!

Khalnayak: The police tracks the villain from an MS Word Document screen! something that office team will be interested in)

Pyar To Hona Hi Tha: Kajol gets off the train to use the public toilet atthe railway station and the train chugs off without her. Poor girl, little did she know that every train compartment has four toilets inside.

Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi: Akshay Kumar boards a Jet Airways flight to America.Well, well, some promotion for our Indian Jet Airways. Since when did theystart flying international?

Raja Hindustani: Navneet Nishan has short hair before marriage. After tyingthe knot, she acquires waist-length hair overnight. What a hair-raisingexperience!

Raja: Dilip Tahil empties a can of petrol over Madhuri Dixit. Minuteslater, Sanjay Kapoor takes the same can and pours it over Dilip Tahil. That's what I call an autofill!

Baghban: Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini are separated right after Holiremember Amitabh singing Holi khele Raghubeera?). They are said to beseparated for six months, ie from March to September. Within that six-monthperiod, they celebrate Valentine's Day, which falls on February 14, andkarva chauth, which is usually observed in October. There is no way these two occasions could come between March and September!

Lagaan: Lagaan was shot in the late 19th century. At the time, an over in cricket used to consist of 8 balls. But in this movie, an over has 6 balls.
Maybe modern cricket learnt from the movie.

Amar Akbar Anthony: Three men donate blood at the same time to the sameperson.

LPG Gas Cylinder's Expiry Date-- Important Information

Dear All ,

'Have U ever heard about LPG gas cylinder's expiry date....!!!

I also didn't know how to find LPG cylinder's expiry date? Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents. In this regard please be cautious at the time of accepting any LPG cylinder from the Vendor.

Here is how we can check the expiry of LPG cylinders:
On one of three side stems of the cylinder, the expiry date is coded alpha numerically as follows A or B or C or D and some two digit number following this e.g. D06.

The alphabets stand for quarters -
1. A for March (First Qtr),
2. B for June (Second Qtr),
3. C for Sept (Third Qtr), &
4. D for December (Fourth Qtr).

The digits stand for the year till it is valid. Hence D06 would mean December qtr of 2006.
Please Return Back the Cylinder that you get with a Expiry Date, they are prone to Leak and other Hazardous accidents .

Fwd: LPG Gas Cylinder's Expiry Date:-- Important Informat
The second example with D13 allows the cylinder to be in use until Dec 2013.

Fwd: LPG Gas Cylinder's Expiry Date:-- Important Informat
Kindly pass this to every one, and create awareness among the public

Best regards,

Balaji
